Jay Wertz is an author, publisher and filmmaker. He is the producer-director-writer of the award-winning documentary series Smithsonian’s Great Battles of the Civil War for Discovery Communications and Time-Life Video. He worked in Los Angeles for 45 years as an editor, producer, director and technical director, amassing more than 1000 primary and secondary credits. He operated a commercial production company covering Southern California. He has written seven books, including four volumes in the award-winning War Stories: World War II Firsthand™ series and six World War II graphic history comic books. He has been a columnist and online contributor for many history magazines. Since relocating to the Gulf Coast of Florida, he has taught college-level film and TV courses while continuing to manage projects through his LLC.
